As an involved river community, the City of Delano has proactively developed a complex and vital storm sewer system to accommodate rain, snowmelt and floodwaters within the developed community. The City's storm sewer system is designed to convey storm runoff into storm sewers, drainage ditches and holding ponds, while also providing treatment prior to the water entering the Crow River drainageway.
In 1996, the City developed and adopted a Comprehensive Storm Water Management Plan that outlines the City's goals and objectives to address storm water. Since that time, many improvements have been made to the storm water system. In addition, the Plan identifies standards for proposed development areas to account for increases in runoff volume and rates. For more information on the Plan, email City Hall or phone (763) 972-0550.
