ADA Compliance Update

ADA Compliance Update – July 2025

On April 24, 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice issued a ruling under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), requiring government websites and mobile applications to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This update ensures that digital content is accessible to all users. Based on our population size, the City of Delano has until April 2027 to meet these standards.

Examples of required accessibility features include:

  • Clear and easy-to-understand language
  • Alternative text for images
  • Accessible formats for important documents
  • Clean and consistent page structure
  • High contrast between text and background colors

Steps the City of Delano is already taking:

  • AudioEye accessibility tool: Available on the lower right-hand corner of our website, this tool allows users to adjust font size, cursor size, contrast, spacing, and more.
  • Staff training: City staff have completed training focused on accessible website and social media practices, and we remain committed to ongoing education and improvement.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work toward full ADA compliance by April 2027, ensuring our digital services are inclusive and accessible for all.
