Discover Delano: Photo Contest

Rules

• Participants may submit 1 photo per year.
• Participants must be a resident of the City of Delano or a student/parent/teacher at Delano Schools.
• All photos must be taken within the city limits of Delano.
• Photos must be original work, not heavily altered or edited, or created with AI.
• Black and white, and color photographs are both welcome.
• Photos taken between 2022-2025 may be submitted. Please do not resubmit previous submissions. 
• Images that appear to heavily promote local businesses or organizations cannot be submitted. This includes images that have watermarks or logos. 
• If there are identifiable people in the photograph, and it was taken in a non-public space, it is the responsibility of the photographer to obtain permission to submit the photograph.
• Owners or employees of local photography businesses must abide by the above rules and participate as residents, not as a local business.
• The City of Delano is not responsible for lost entries.

Please note that City of Delano staff may remove any images deemed to be inappropriate, in violation of the rules above, or offensive. 

How to Vote for the Discover Delano Photo Contest

• After the submission window closes, all photos will be posted on the City of Delano Facebook page for residents to "vote" on. The photos with the most “likes” will earn First, Second and Third Place. 1 Like = 1 Vote. Comments do not count as a vote. 
• Winners will be announced on social media and the website after voting ends.

Awards

• First Place: Posted and shared on City social media. 20x30 print displayed in City Hall hallway for a year, with a plaque with the winner's name, photo title, and description. 
• Second Place: 11x13 print displayed in City Hall hallway for a year, with a plaque with the winner's name, and photo title. Posted and shared on City social media.
• Third Place: 11x13 print displayed in City Hall hallway for a year, with a plaque with the winner's name, and photo title. Posted and shared on City social media.

• Community life: Capture the pulse of our city's bustling streets, local events, or the warmth of everyday interactions.
• Historic charm: Preserve the heritage and history of our town through photos of historic buildings, monuments, or cultural landmarks.
• Hidden gems: Uncover the lesser-known treasures tucked away in our city – whether it's a quaint alleyway, a colorful mural, or a secret garden.

Congrats to our 2024 Discover Delano winners! Previous winner's photos will be displayed in the Delano Heritage Center.
